Our week-end in Rybnik

Hi everyone! 😀

We decided to spend last week-end in Rybnik, where other volunteers are living to work on a different project.

Rybnik is a city in southwestern Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship. The city first developed as a fishing centre in the Middle Ages, hence the name of the city alludes to the trade. Rybnik then grew as an important centre of coal mining and the seat of the surrounding county in the 19th century (Wikipedia).

We walked around the center a little bit and I must say that I loved it.

Also the two boys, originating in Turkey and Georgia, who made us tour guides, they were very nice and funny, like an other boy who came from Oswencim, originally from Spain.

We attended two events. The first was a social meeting language at a tourist and information center in the city, that they often frequent and help. We met a Polish girl who told us something about her. It was really nice!

The second event was a contemporary art exhibitionby a local artist, at their office. I liked it very much but it was also an opportunity to create new bonds, meet interesting people, understand what they do daily and toast toghether.

We spent the evening in a pub in the central square and we vowed to repeat the day maybe somewhere else or to a different event!

We’ll update soon! 😀
