It’s been almost two months since I arrived in Poland. At first, I didn’t know what to expect, I had no idea how being a foreigner in Poland would be but now after two months I am beginning to understand more.
During this time here, I have met some crazy wonderful persons, made new friends, engaged in a totally different workspace with some of the most creative people I have ever met and each one of them tried to make me feel at home. It always feels good when you are far away from home and still you find people who try to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
When it comes to work with the children, I find it pretty easy to connect with them and engage with them. Children are curious, they want to know everything, they want to make me part of their activities, of their games and they want to know about me. The language was a barrier at first but there is a hundred ways that you can communicate with children and now I feel they are making me part of a new realm which I am really enjoying.
Also, when I first heard people talk in polish I said to myself that it would be impossible for me to understand and talk in this language. But guess I was wrong…I started taking polish classes but what helped me the most was listening to other people talk in polish or when my co-workers would translate everything for me. My polish is still pretty basic but I am pretty confident that I will learn more in the upcoming months.
This is just a small part of what I experienced here in Poland so stay tuned for more. 😊
