It Is Florian in front of you, 23 years old and I come from a nation not that well known but absolutely fascinating called the Republic of Albania. I am the newest volunteer in the project “Empowering regions through volunteering 2” located in Myslowice city.

In 2020, I graduated from a university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication and until now I have been working on some practical online journalism in my hometown. Being able to finish university successfully was my main goal because I always was fascinated by the idea of storytelling and the impact that you can have on someone.

After a lot of studying time and working time, I felt like I did not have enough time for myself to be able to visit other countries to see the world from e different angle. Even though I was able to visit a very high number of countries like Spain, Germany, Estonia, Switzerland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and so on, I was wondering how is like to live for one full year in one foreign country.

I was going around trying to figure out the best way to do that and I saw this project through European Solidarity Corps and it fit perfectly with me. And you might think but why Poland? Why are you leaving behind that superb weather in Albania and going to a cold country? But here is the thing, on my last three visits to Poland I left behind very charm full, happy, lovely people so it was the time to challenge the weather for one year so I can have this experience.

But let’s go back to that lovely country that I am from called Albania, a country known for its breathtaking nature, generous people. Albania is located in Southeastern Europe and shares borders with Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Greece. The population is around 2.8 million so is relatively small compared to Poland. The country is formed by 70% mountains so it gives you a fascinating opportunity to hike, and the highest point is Mount Korab around 2,700 meters. That is what I can tell you for the moment because I cannot spoil you everything so that is why I invite everyone to put Albania on their travel list.

I am very happy to be part of this amazing project and I am looking forward to making the best experience possible out of this.

Do widzenia,
