Burial: The music of a generation

Few artists have created such visual imagery through their music, like London-producer Burial. Drawing inspiration from the mixtapes of his rave-obsessed older brother, Burial crafted a niche that pays homage to the various club subcultures of mid 90s UK. Stretched vocal samples from RnB vocalists, blurring the line between male and female, washed in ambient, futuristic synth pads are ingredients that paint the landscape of Burial’s dark world.

The famous “Unknown Pleasures” cover

It’s been on t-shirts, it’s been on posters, it’s been on tv-shows, it’s been on movies. It’s been paid tribute to, parodied, remixed and re-modelled. The iconic cover of Joy Division’s 1979 debut album Unknown Pleasures is perhaps the most enduring image of the post-punk era. You’ve probably got a t-shirt of it. Even if you haven’t, you almost certainly own the album in some shape or form.

DokuFest

DokuFest is an international documentary and short film festival held in Prizren, Kosovo. It is held annually during the month of August. The first entry of Dokufest was in 2002, which it was organized by a close group of friends. Since then, it has grown into a cultural event that attracts international and regional artists and audiences. Films are screened throughout the 14 day festival and accompanied by programs, activities, and workshops.
